[fetchmail]fetchmail dies in daemon mode, cron does not work2001-05-13 19:48:04
Hi - I sent this a month ago and received no response - any takers this time around?
I am at the end of my limited knowledge, and so I come to the list for enlightenment. I have FM running on a RH6.2 box in daemon mode - it works fine for a few days and then quits inexplicably - no log info at all. I got tired of this, so I set it up as a cron job - the following line entered into the /etc/crontab: */30 * * * * root /usr/bin/fetchmail -L /var/log/fetchmail No mail delivered - I had purposely left off the 2>/dev/null so that I could see what went on when the job ran. Checking the cron generated mail to root showed: fetchmail: no mailservers have been specified even though it did not have this particular problem in daemon mode and the .fetchmailrc file was still in place with perms 0600. If I run the same command (as is in crontab) from the command line, it works beautifully. Is there something I am missing here?
