Someone suggested forwarding at SMTP session, the same way as HTTP does.

This kind of thing isn't an open relay as the SMTP server shall maintain a
redirections or, at least, some redirection rules.
Was this kind of thing already discussed in the past ? Any thoughs ?

It's been around since at least RFC 821, possibly longer. I've never seen
it in the wild, though.
