So does anyone have any numbers for those three categories, and how
they compare to the amount of broadcast mail and one-to-one mail?
Again only personal data, from the period 2004-07-01 to 2004-09-30.
Lists which mangle text in some way (36 of the 41) : 57059 messages.
Lists which don't mangle text (5 of the 41 lists) : 3137 messages.
Inbox/badreply folders (mostly directly addressed) : 1808 messages.
Postmaster folder (mostly administrivia) : 2775 messages.
So that's about 90% of my mail which was 'mangled', last quarter. There
is not a whelk's chance in a supernova that I could ever deploy a
solution which rejects that 90%. Even the massive brokenness of SPF
pales into insignificance in comparison with that.
