Internationalized domain names are a failure if non-ASCII glyphs don't
appear on the screen. Have you completely lost sight of the goal here?
by that logic, IDNs are doomed to fail, because regardless of their
representation, few existing apps will be able to properly display them.
similarly, the entire Internet is a failure because it fails to route
packets to networks that don't exist yet.
not everyone accepts your criteria for success. actually, it appears
that your criteria for success are incompatible with many others'
criteria for success - in particular, that existing apps be able to
accept IDNs in the spaces that DNS names are currently acceptable.
