Typically, it's better to gain some agreement about tradeoffs among some 
choices, prior to starting lobbying for a particular choice.
This has the distinct advantage of allowing the community to know why it 
rejected alternatives.  And /that/ has the advantage of avoiding morning-after 
regret.
