For what its worth, I have a search engine implemented for my archive,
located here:

The search engine is modified from the simple search script that I
downloaded from Matt's Script Archive. It is pretty easy to configure it
to search multiple sub-folders, and really easy if the folders follow the
same pattern to their naming. I can provide details if anybody emails me.
Its not terribly fast, because its a script that goes into each file and
looks for the string, but it gets the job done on small- to medium-sized
lists.
