The planned code freeze for 5.8.0 RC1 is in one week: are we okay in
the Encode (and Unicode::*) department?
So far as I use it seems okay. But there are indeed
(problems|misteries|questions) remain so let me list them up. Beware
that not all of them have to be (re)?solved before the release
Encode/compile
- A new name is called for so that we can install it for later use
Encode::JP
- Extended EUC-JP (euc-jp with JISX0212 support) remains unsupported.
- ISO-2022-JP2 is not supported. To support this script, the module
has to support all major CJK encodings.
Encode::KR
- Absolutely no report from native users to the date.
Would someone check them please ?
Encode::XX
- static linking for UNICOS and such (Configure option?)
- Maybe we need a better solution to support ISO-2022 fully...
Encode
- is valid_utf8() implemented?
