<xsl:output method="xml"/>, and you
should be fine.
also the HTML Doctype is specified, so you _need_ <link> to not have a
cloase tag or /> syntax, otherwise it's a syntax error. If you change to
use XML you probably also want to put all the elements into xhtml
namespace and specify xhtml doctype rather than html.
