...but it seems that behaviour is limited to the version of Xerces
bundled with Java
(com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.parsers.SAXParser)
If I try it will the Intel parser, or with Xerces 2.9.1 then the
startEntity and endEntity events wrap the expanded value as
expected...
