Hi,
sometimes if I use fetchmail (v5.6.5) under AIX 4.1.4 via
fetchmail -p pop3 popserv.xx.xx.xx
I got the following error
reading message 1 of 1 (582 octets) fetchmail: SMTP connect to \
localhost failed
fetchmail: SMTP transaction error while fetching from popserv.xx.xx.xx
fetchmail: Query status=10 (SMTP)
I checked SMTP port 25 on localhost, sendmail is running ok and working
normally for "normal" mails, no according error messages in the sendmail
logs. In the FAQ I found
... the most
benign and typical problem is that the listener had a momentary
seizure due to resource exhaustion while fetchmail was polling it --
process table full or some other problem that stopped the listener
process from forking.
Any ideas how can I analyze/check that situation?
With the new fetchmail v5.6.7 I got a slightly different message
reading message 1 of 1 (582 octets) fetchmail: SMTP connect to \
localhost failed
fetchmail: SMTP transaction error while delivering to SMTP host \
popserv.xx.xx.xx
fetchmail: Query status=10 (SMTP)
Why want fetchmail deliver something per SMTP to the POP-server?
Greetings
Jens
