[fetchmail]Bug? Too many open files? temporary name server error?

2001-05-30 04:57:02
Hi all!

First of all: THANKS FOR FETCHMAIL !!! It's a great program to use, easy
to configure, fetchmailconf makes it a lot easier!

Short description of my problem:
After running for about 33 hours, fetchmail got the error "Too many open
files" (from the pop3 server or from my system?). After that a
"temporary name server error" caused fetchmail to not retrieve any more
mails until I restarted it. After restarting it, mails were retrieved as
usual.

From my /var/log/fetchmail file:

fetchmail: starting fetchmail 5.8.4 daemon

My questions are:
Where does the error "Too many open files" come from? My system or the
pop3 server?
Why does the "temporary name server error" appear?
Why do I have to restart fetchmail to get it to work properly again?

My configuration:

2.
