The 5.8.9 release of fetchmail is now available at the usual locations,
including <URL:http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/fetchmail>.
Here are the release notes:
fetchmail-5.8.9 (Sun Jun 24 20:30:49 EDT 2001), 20922 lines:
* HMH's snprintf/strncat cleanup patch.
* Fixes for Debian bugs #101792, #101950.
* Updated Danish translation by Byrial Jensen.
* ODMR fixes from Matt Armstrong <matt(_at_)lickey(_dot_)com>.
* The smtphost option has been split. It is no longer overloaded to set
the list of domains to be queried in ETRN and ODMR modes. Instead, use
the `fetchdomains' option.
There are 353 people on fetchmail-friends and 599 on fetchmail-announce.
More bug fixes. Next release should be golden.
By popular demand, diffs from the previous release have been omitted.

The biggest hypocrites on gun control are those who live in upscale
developments with armed security guards -- and who want to keep other
people from having guns to defend themselves. But what about
lower-income people living in high-crime, inner city neighborhoods?
Should such people be kept unarmed and helpless, so that limousine
liberals can 'make a statement' by adding to the thousands of gun laws
already on the books?"
