Has anyone had the following error connecting to a host:

fetchmail: socket error while fetching from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

fetchmail: fetchmail: sleeping at Wed, 18 Jul 2001 16:51:24 -0400 (EDT)
fetchmail: terminated with signal 2
(mail server name and IP omitted)
I'm stumped since all other network connectivity works fine on the lan
including mozilla mail.
