[fetchmail]fetchmailconf error?

Not sure if this is a bug or not but I dont know how to fix it and was hoping 
you could provide some help.

Compiler Version - gcc version 2.95.3 (release) [FreeBSD]
Fetchmail Version - 5.9.6
OS - FreeBSD 4.4 Release

Error I recieve when running fetchmailconf

$ fetchmailconf
Traceback (most recent call last):
 File "/usr/local/libexec/fetchmailconf.bin", line 1981, in ?
  hostname = socket.gethostbyaddr(socket.gethostname())[0]
socket.error host not found
