From: Brian Schramm <brians2(_at_)yahoo(_dot_)com>
I am having a problem with fetchmail. Here is my
specs:
Debian Linus 2.4.17
Fetchmail 5.9.11-5 Debian (to my knowlege the latest
version)
The same error on several servers with different
messages
Sendmail 8.12.3-4 Debian
<---SNIP--->
Now here is my problem. I do not get mail because it
errors on each server. Here is the error messages out
of the syslog file after fetchmail has run:
May 19 21:05:01 schserv sm-msp-queue[10319]:
STARTTLS=client, error: load verify locs
/etc/ssl/certs/, /etc/mail/ssl/sendmail-server.crt
failed: 0
You've got TLS configured but you've not configured any certificates. Fix
your sendmail configuration.
May 19 21:05:48 schserv fetchmail[475]: awakened by
User defined signal 1
May 19 21:05:48 schserv fetchmail[475]: POP3
connection to schrammfamily.net failed: temporary
name server error.
May 19 21:05:48 schserv fetchmail[475]: Query status=2
(SOCKET)
May 19 21:05:53 schserv fetchmail[475]: POP3
connection to schrammfamily.net failed: temporary
name server error.
May 19 21:05:53 schserv fetchmail[475]: Query status=2
(SOCKET)
May 19 21:05:53 schserv fetchmail[475]: POP3
connection to mail.bbnp.com failed: temporary name
server error.
May 19 21:05:53 schserv fetchmail[475]: Query status=2
(SOCKET)
May 19 21:05:58 schserv fetchmail[475]: POP3
connection to coconutisland.com failed: temporary
name server error.
May 19 21:05:58 schserv fetchmail[475]: Query status=2
(SOCKET)
The good news is that your problem has nothing to do with fetchmail, and
probably nothing to do with sendmail either. It does however have a lot to
do with your DNS configuration.
It appears you can't resolve the mail server names to addresses. Try doing
a "host coconutisland.com".
Once you fix DNS then everything else should be fine.
Please don't CC me on anything sent to mailing lists or send
me email directly unless it's a privacy issue, thanks.
