[fetchmail] Incorrect header line found....

2003-07-01 17:24:41
Hello! I just joined this mailing list because of this issue, and
so I have no knowledge of any pre-existing discussion etc about fetchmail.
Sorry! :-)

I've used fetchmail for a long time on my personal linux machine to pick
up mail from my POP3 ISP, but just recently began getting a problem....

Some mail items produce the message
"incorrect header line found while scanning headers"
followed by "message retained on server" or something like it.
And these mail items can apparently never be retrieved or cleared
from the server with fetchmail [at least, all the fetchmail docs and
man pages and .fetchmailrc stuff I could find (including -a) did not
successfully clear the mail item]. On the other hand. netscape mail
has no problem, it works like a champ.

By reading the fetchmail source code (transact.c:521), it appears that
the mail is incorrect format, but still, there should be some way to
clear the message from the server..... like "-a" :-)

Am I missing something or is this indeed a bug/lapse in the fetchmail
design?

Thanks for any comments, fetchmail has worked great for me until now :-)
