Every evening I make a large run of spam reports to various abuse addresses
and to NANAS, at least once during every run this will show up. I've changed
the timeout setting up to 600s. Should I raise it even further? fetchmail
-v -v shows nothing abnormal when this happens.
Jul 5 20:34:20 cpollock fetchmail[7941]: timeout after 600 seconds waiting
for server pop.earthlink.net.
Jul 5 20:34:20 cpollock fetchmail[7941]: socket error while fetching from
pop.earthlink.net
Jul 5 20:34:20 cpollock fetchmail[7941]: Query status=2 (SOCKET)
It seems that about the same time I get a couple of the below postfix errors,
I wouldn't think the two are realted since one is picking up from one type of
server and the other is sending to another type of server.
Jul 5 20:34:28 cpollock postfix/smtp[2332]: C1A7B4341F4: conversation with
smtpauth.earthlink.net[207.69.189.207] timed out while sending end of data --
message may be sent more than once
Of course fetchmail eventually makes the pickup but its just an annoying
little thing. The same with the postfix errors I get.
