For anyone interesting in MIME audio, this looks interesting.
It would be useful to clue these folks in on audio formats
used by MIME in the hopes that they'd be compatible.

Subject: [comp.dsp] New release of snd2mat for MATLAB

There was a good response to my earlier post announcing the release
of a set of programs and MATLAB M-files for reading and writing
Sun audio files from within MATLAB. Several portability problems
were uncovered also, specifically:
1) Compilers that didn't understand prototypes couldn't compile the
code.
2) The MAT file created by the ulaw2mat and linear2mat programs
could only be read by certain computers, due to the machine id flag
of the type variable not being set correctly. This caused the
sndload M-file to not work.

I've fixed these problems and the new code is available for anonymous
ftp from cameron.egr.duke.edu. Look in the incoming or pub directory
for snd2mat1.1.tar.Z. Be sure to grab this file and not snd2mat.tar.Z
which is the old version.

If anyone has any other problems, please contact me by email because I
feel that MATLAB specific posts are not quite appropriate for this group
and should be kept to a minimum.
