Re: Ed Taft (Adobe) on MIME use of PostScript trademark

1993-02-09 19:08:41
I propose using 'application/ps' (or 'application/ps1' and
'application/ps2') instead of 'application/PostScript' to avoid
requiring all MIME PostScript content-types to contain a lengthy
comment. Since the restriction is on the use of the trademark, don't
use the trademark.

In any case, if the MIME type is kept 'application/PostScript' (with
the manditory trademark comment) or changed to 'application/ps', I
also propose that the MIME draft be changed so that postscript
contents follow one of the approaches outlined by Taft (either they
must 'include a %%LanguageLevel comment', or else they must 'conform
to one of the compatibility strategies documented in Appendix D, pp.
581-9, making it compatible with any interpreter.')
