Maybe there's an argument for removing a Return-Path before 
prepending the Resent-* fields, but that's a different discussion.

Sounds reasonable.  Maybe resending and the Resent- fields could be
moved to a separate document, which could more fully discuss the
issues relevant to resending (which transcends the message format per se).
