I remember the days when I received 0 spams and USENET was useable.

I liked that better.

As far as the contest goes I am told that a significant proportion of the
spam bouncing off W3C and the MIT AI lab is meant for me which is why I
asked them not to forward...

At this point the proportion of spam created by non-criminal 
businesses 
is negligible. High nines catch rates are good but not a 
solution for 
the person who like me receives 1000 spams per day.

Yeah, I remember when I only got 1000 spams a day.
