People who are not doing initial mail submission and want port 25 for
things they should not try to do on port 587 instead probably should not be
doing that from a dynamically assigned address anyway, unless they have deep
support from their ISP for that sort of use, including dynamically assigned
reverse DNS records and other such oddities only witnessed in corporate
networks and dreams born of jalapeno and anchovy pizza...

The standard firewall configuration is to block all traffic unless otherwise
specified.  While it's true that most SMTP servers will accept port 587,
most firewall policies only permit inbound TCP 25 to an SMTP server.  Call
this overzealousness if you will, but it's a simple reality.
