This was found out when an Apache developer was having problems posting to
a subscribers-only ezmlm mailing list. He says:

I have asked my admin about the BATV settings, and it is basically a simple
setting in the Lotus Notes Mail Server my company is running. It is turned
on by default when the mail server server is set up. Sorry that I do not
have any more implementation details for you, but I can supply you with
more BATV'd mails if it is of any help.
