This is probably old news for many here, so I hope I am not out of line,
but yesterday, a customer mentioned that YAHOO has released their own
"Outlook" like mail client. I made sure to confirm he was not referring to
a web-mail client, but rather a downloadable GUI.
Does anyone have any info on this?
If true, this is a very significant and strategic move that is going to
change a lot of things people. Obviously, Yahoo, as most significant growth
organizations who inevitably will need more control of it resources, are
pushing their YDK proposal with this move and it also probably means
compliance with any new SMTP protocol requirements defined by this working
group - RFC2821 and RFC2822 as well. So from this aspect, I see this as
good news. I just hope this doesn't become a proprietary business model for
Yahoo. I have yet to see the specs for YDK.
