I would like to know if it would be possible to arrange a PGP
keysigning session among those who will be in Toronto for the below
mentioned conference. No doubt it is an opportunity to have people
from "out of town" participate, and hence increase the parties
participating in the keysigning session.

comments/suggestions most welcome.

regards

robert

Subject: ELLIPTIC CURVE CRYPTOGRAPHY (ECC) SEMINAR - April 23-24, 1998
Date: Fri, 23 Jan 1998 10:34:00 -0800

ELLIPTIC CURVE CRYPTOGRAPHY (ECC) SEMINAR

An Advanced Seminar On Elliptic Curve Cryptography and the Ideal Way to
Learn the Techniques of Elliptic Curve Cryptography

Lead by:
Dr. Scott Vanstone
Renowned ECC Pioneer and Certicom Co-Founder and Chief Cryptographer

April 23 and 24, 1998 (following the Certicom PKS '98 Conference) - Four
Seasons Hotel, Toronto, Canada

The Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) Seminar offers a comprehensive
overview of ECC and is lead by Dr. Vanstone, one of the world's leading
cryptographers. This seminar is a convenient intensive introduction to
the algorithms and implementation techniques of ECC.

The ECC Seminar Includes:
=B7 an overview of relevant abstract algebra
=B7 motivation for and construction of the group of points formed from
an elliptic curve over a finite field
=B7 implementation issues for both hardware and software
=B7 security issues of the ECDLP (Elliptic Curve Discrete Logarithm
Problem)
=B7 an overview of protocols using ECC for signature/verification, key
agreement, key transport, and encryption/decryption
=B7 representations, point compression, security considerations, and
other issues affecting implementations of ECC in both hardware and
software

At the end of the seminar, you will understand how to:
=B7 formulate an elliptic curve group
=B7 construct a public-key cryptosystem from this group
=B7 evaluate the difficulty of the Elliptic Curve Discrete Logarithm
Problem (ECDLP) on which the security of ECC is based
=B7 efficiently implement ECC in both hardware and software

Course prerequisites:
=B7 an understanding of abstract algebra
=B7 a general knowledge of public-key cryptosystems
=B7 a degree in Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science.
