Subject: Re: OpenPGP vs. OpenPGP/MIME
I
believe it is the design of RFC 1847 that makes interoperability
low.
In what way? Please explain.
I think RFC 1847 has several ambiguities:
(1) It's not clear whether or not the protocol parameter is
case-sensitive. The parameter indicates content type, which is
case-insensitive, of a second part. However, the parameter is
case-sensitive because RFC 1847 does not mention this explicitly.
(2) It's not clear how a receiving MUA should do when the value of the
protocol parameter is different from the value of content type (of
the first part for encryption and of the second part for
signature.)
(3) It's not clear how a receiving MUA should do when the value of
the micalg parameter is differnt from the value specified in the
second part(e.g a PGP packet for PGP/MIME).
co-Author of RFC1847 (for which a revision is in progress)
Good news. Where can I find the draft?
