Subject: patent language for all drafts

<snip>
practicing this proposal, any party will be able to obtain the right
to
implement, use and distribute the technology or works when
implementing,
using or distributing technology based upon the specific
specification(s)
under openly specified, reasonable, non-discriminatory terms."

Specific question: Will Cisco allow free software or freely available
software to make use of any such patents free of charge? This is
important because much of the key software on the internet today is
either free software or freely available software and as such would be
unable to licence use of patented technology or works on anything except
the simplest terms. (For example licensing per copy made would collide
with both the BSD and GPL software licences).

Such an issue could slow adoption quite dramatically.
