You know that we at webwasher are very committed to ICAP. And now we are
about to even extend our ICAP usage a lot.
I do not want to misuse the OPES mailing list for product announcements
;-)
But I guess that it may be interesting for you to read about our plans
for the protocol.
Therefore a brief description here and a more detailed and product
driven mail in the ICAP forum mailing list
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ICAP-Discussions/):
- We will provide two new ICAP client implementations, our own one in
our HTTP proxy server and an open source implementation for Squid.
- We are using ICAP for SMTP too. In the first run by implementing a
SMTP gateway that sends ICAP RESPMOD messages that make the ICAP servers
believe that the mail messages and attachments are coming via HTTP. I
will post a detailed description how this works within the next weeks.
We expect that existing ICAP/1.0 servers have a good chance to run with
the SMTP gateway right away.
With now having different ICAP implementations on both client and server
side we like to renew our offer to do interoperability tests with
everybody being interested. Our target is to compile a matrix of all
ICAP client and server implementations available including their
compatibility.
