Has there ever been any thought/discussion of pulling the signed receipt
section out of the MIME-based Secure EDI draft, and into a working
group/draft of its own?
The MDN based signed receipts address some of the issues coming up in
the S/MIME receipt discussions, are really not EDI specific. Both the
S/MIME and PGP groups are looking for receipt mechanisms (the former
obviously more actively), and there has been talk before of trying to
combine efforts between the two groups, where appropriate.
Sure, we can all support Message Disposition Notifications, S/MIME
receipts, some day PGP receipts, AUTACKs, etc, but is there not benefit
in a well developed, centralized and higher-level receipt mechanism?
