RE: A general question about S/MIMEv2 & v3

2000-10-30 09:07:36
Hello Laurent,

New functionalities include:
- Increased interoperability and support for digital signatures (V3 clients
support both DSA and RSA)
- V3 supports both D-H and RSA
- V3 supports secondary crypto algorithms
- D-H support is mandatory
- ESS (signed receipts, security labels, Secure MLAs, Signed certificates)
- V3 agent may generate separate D-H and DSS public/private key pairs on
behalf of the user

A number of software vendors are beginning to migrate to S/MIME v3 in phases
as the demand for extended security services increases. Currently no
software vendors have incorporated "full" v3 compliance.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Hello all,

Could someone give me a brief description of the new fonctionnalities that
were implemented in SMIME v3 ?

What are the main new capatibilities ?

Is this version already implemented in commercial products ?

Thanks a lot to all people who could answer me,
