I am curious about the state of interoperability between clients as regards
basic s/mime capabilities like sending clear singed messages. Could some
kindly soul direct me to the latest S/MIME interoperability test results? I
know NIST had done a while back but not sure if one was done more recently
and where the report would be. One document discussing the 'Characteristics
that affect interoperability' is more the 4 years old. I suspect things
have improved at least a bit since then.
Can a simple clear signed message created by any client be processed (1.
message understood/parsed successfully and 2. signature verified correctly)
by every other major client? Any answers that can separately deal with the
message parsing aspect of this vs. the certificate processing part would be
great.
I'll be grateful for any light that can be shed on this subject.
