I don't think most musicians are in it for the money. But even if
they are, I think they'd make more money under a voluntary payment
system where they didn't have greedy labels taking a huge cut off the
top.
The only problem with a voluntary payment system is that under such a
system, the musician cannot call his A&R guy at 3:30 in the morning
(while tearing his hotel room apart) and demand another bottle of Chivas
Regal.
