"Thousands of interconnections" are not really relevant given that we're
well into the hundreds of millions of IPv6 hosts on residential or
mobile connections that provide one or more /64s.
Maybe if he said 'permanent' connections, which mobile or residential
are less.
One could have one trillion connections on/off during 10years, but only
1 connection up all that time.
