according to the namazu site the only requirement considering my
language (English) is Perl, for which the proper version is installed
and File-MMagic, which is included.
My guess is it is a autoconf problem. I am not experienced with
autoconf, so I can provide little help. Hopefully, the namazu developers
can.
Note, if debian packages are relocatable, you could try to install namazu
from a the debian package.
