Recipe for getting "index sorted by author" wanted

Hi,

I would like to add an "index sorted by author" to the mailing list archives 
I'm 
maintaining. Unfortunately I'm not able to make head of the postings in the 
mhonarc mailing list archive or the manual. Couldn't some one post a recipe on 
how to do this?
