PRE tag in message body

Hi,

Is it at all possible to get rid of the <PRE> tag in the body of messages. 
Normally, the tag would be nice, but I'm using frames and the page is 
coming up in a smaller area than normal. The <PRE> tag makes it too big to 
fit in the entire frame and it is not practical to make the other frame any 
smaller.

I didn't see any obvious solution when I took a quick look at the list of 
resources
