It is probably a Perl 4 issue. I work on Solaris 2.5.1 with Perl 5.003
w/o any problems. I would think if you use Perl 5.004, you
should be okay.
Yes I can confirm that I am now using perl version 5.004_03 and all
seems fine. :-)
