The variable does get correctly expanded in other parts of the
resource file, just not in the icon specification. Is this the
expected behaviour or a bug?
Expected behaviour. The ICONS resource page says resource variables
are N/A (Not Applicable).
Have a look at the ICONURLPREFIX resource. You may be able to
use that to get the effect you want.
