slocal, sendmail and hp

  1. install slocal on hpux (or probably any other operating system
     where you have to be group mail to write /usr/spool/mail or
     /usr/mail).  john tells me that because of security precautions,
     slocal is not installed setgid.

  2. make the mistake of adding something like:

        default -       > ? /usr/spool/mail/wohler

     to your .maildelivery.

  3. send yourself mail.  sendmail hangs.  if you kill sendmail, YOUR
     SYSTEM MAILBOX IS ZEROED.

  this bug should be fixed.

  in the meantime, i see two possible workarounds.  use:

        default -       ^ ? "/usr/local/lib/mh/rcvstore -create +inbox"

  or dump slocal for procmail, deliver or mailagent.  any other
  alternatives, slocal or otherwise?
