Sorry for the novice question, but why can't my local host be the smtp
server? With the default mtstailor file (mts is sendmail/smtp), I
can't send mail, post says the following:
post: unexpected response; [BHST] no socket opened
(I don't think this is a bug, just a misconfiguration on my part, so I
didn't mail to Bug-MH.)
If I add any other host name (in my local network), it works happily.
After looking through the FAQ, I thought it might be related to using
the BIND option, but rebuilding w/o it didn't make any difference.
Here's the config:
version: MH 6.8 #54[UCI] (doc) of Thu Jun 16 12:55:15 EDT 1994
options: [ATHENA] [ATTVIBUG] [DBMPWD] [DUMB] [FCNTL] [ISI] [MAILGROUP]
[MHE] [MHRC] [MIME] [MORE='"/usr/bsd/more"'] [RENAME] [SENDMTS]
[SMTP] [SOCKETS] [SPRINTFTYPE=int] [SVR4] [SYS5] [SYS5DIR]
[TERMINFO] [TYPESIG=void] [TYPESIG=void] [UNISTD] [VSPRINTF]
[WAITINT]
My local system is running `ypbind', is not running `named', but does
have a `/etc/resolv.conf'.
Just using `sendmail' as the mts works fine. Only see this problem
w/`sendmail/mts'.
The system is IRIX 5.2 if there are known problems w/it (i.e. - known
problems related to this).
Thanks.
