Hm.
The obvious place to start is config.log. Look near the end; you want to
find the part where you started checking for stuff and see what errors
you got. That should get you started.
i have libgdm-dev and libgdm3 installed, and i don't see any other
likely *dbm packages available that i should try.
Do you mean libgdbm? I admit, I'm not so familiar with the right dbm packages
on Linux.
