RARE WG-SEC

Though personally very Americanised in my way of thinking, I somethimes
I wish I was a full U.S. American, and had *all* that same openness,
enthusiasm, quality and sheer drive which this fundamentally US list
demonstrates! I think it exhibits a quite extraordinary combination of
assertive talents. The recent round of messages really has educated
me, and others; and, I hope, has also served a solid, and responsive,
leadership role for our own local purposes - which do aim to advance
PEM in a responsible way! Thanks!

Like others, I do believe that in the Europe, we also have a great deal
of bottled-up energy ready to go for a live PEM, from users,
infrastructure administrators, network strategists and funders.
However, in the Euro-mentality, we need a little "how, and when, and
how much" pseudo-planning to get us all to commit to the now always
costly EC-member coordinated action.

In Pisa, Euro-folk have soon a RARE meeting week. One WG is called
WG-SEC and seeks to lead and coordinate such as PEM deployment in the
EC member states. If you have any friends or contacts who you would
expect to be interested in the area, tell them about this activity.
Please, do try to urge them to get involved and fully active.

In 2 months time there will be a huge, new, single market in Europe,
read to go with new technologies and products. With a bit of
well-coordinated action, we can overcome the US-Euro PEM technology
gap, and then allow the many European sites to make their own voluntary,
concerted contribution to the PEM pilot and service deployment within
the common Internet.
