Re: DES MAC Alternative

Rob,

We're in violent agreement. As far as I'm concerned it's too late for
anything else. I forwarded the PEM specs to the IESG Saturday
afternoon. A copy of my action, including the analysis and
recommendation, was sent to both the pem-dev and SAAG lists. You
should have received two copies.

The IETF Secretariat is processing them. I expect to see the revised
version of RFC1115bis posted as an I-D, a last call issued for
everyone to review the documents, and then, assuming no objections,
action by the IESG to elevate the four documents to Proposed Standard
status. Except for my positive vote in an IESG session, I do not
expect to interact further on these specs before they're elevated.

Subject: Re: DES MAC Alternative

The MAC problems requires analysis. The problem can be fixed in a later
update, if it is resolved. The draft does not require MAC to advance.
Let's do it as promised at the IETF.
