Yup, an RDN is a *set* of AVAs. There can be only one occurrence of an attribute in this set, so an RDN is a (partial) function from attributes to their corresponding ranges. A DN is a sequence of RDNs. What does all this mean? Well, it's a bit untamed. Most folks have been using just one AVA per RDN, which is isomorphic to a list. However, it's been argued that multiple AVAs per RDN are useful in some contexts. I think we're in for some chaos for a while. Steve
