If you really want to use PEM, rather than PGP, for this sort of thing, just have people sign their own certificates.
The question is, does PEM allow me to sign my own certificate? I've seen nothing that would say that I can, and the name subordination rules would seem to disallow it. Even so, it is a good suggestion: would the working group consider allowing this to happen? Cheers, Rhys.
