Seriously, from my point of view the next steps are mainly discussion to
determine the best mechanism, and also a few coding experiments to see if
the proposed translations are feasible. Maybe my proposal should also be
tied into the proposal for self-signed certificates since that is also
necessary to advance the use of PEM to the fast track on the Internet. At
the moment, my proposal sort of assumes that self-signing is allowed so that
domain-based CA's can be added after users have begun to use EN-based
DN's in earnest.
