Subject: INFORMATION SECURITY COMMITTEE, EDI/IT DIVISION
Section of Science and Technology
American Bar Association
You are cordially invited to participate in a meeting of the Information
Security Committee on Mon-Wed, August 1-3, 1994 in Quebec City, Canada.
The Committee will continue to address conventional and computer-based
notarization and certification authority issues. The meetings are
focused around the work product of its respective participants and will
be highly results driven.
At the last meeting (April 14-16, 1994), further progress was made on
the development of "Global Public Key Infrastructure Rules of Practice"
(Rules). Also, further development and discussion of the draft notarial
resolution was undertaken with the expectation of its presentation
before the Section Council at the New Orleans 1994 Annual Meeting on
August 6 to support, in principle, the creation of an entity to provide
specialty certification of attorney-notaries engaging in professional
services related to transnational electronic commerce.
Claude Perreault of "La Chambre des notaires du Quebec," a member of the
Committee, has kindly agreed to host the meeting at the YMCA Vieux-
Quebec in downtown Quebec City, Canada. Should you decide to extend your
stay in Quebec City, Claude has offered to assist Committee members with
their "tourist" plans. Claude can be contacted at the following address:
