Further responses probably don't want to go to the pem-dev list, but....
People should be aware that gethostbyname() under Solaris is very badly
broken. It does not canonicalize the hostname in the h_name field of
the returned hostent structure, despite the fact that Berkeley BIND has
had this behavior for years.
This has caused enough problems for me that I'm considering including a
copy of the resolver sources in the Kerberos distribution, since I don't
trust the Solaris resolver routines to do anything at all rational ---
there is a similar, although subtler, problem with gethostbyaddr() in
Solaris.
I don't know if the lack of canonicalization will be an issue with
TIS-PEM, but if it is, beware!
