Re: Effort for MOSS implementation

1995-06-02 07:24:00
A couple of days ago I posted a request for an estimation of the effort
needed to implement MOSS (MIME security), given a working PEM implementation
as a starting point.
A related question was: Is anyone implementing / planning to implement
public domain MOSS code?

The only response came from Wolfgang Schneider of the SecuDE development
team in Germany, stating:

we are planning to implement MOSS over SecuDE as one activity of the
EU-Telematics project ICE.
ICE will presumably start in September 95, code should be available by
the end of the year.

SecuDE (Security Development Environment) is a public domain software
package from GMD Darmstadt, Germany. It contains basic crypto modules,
utilities, and a PEM implementation. Based on our own experiences, it
can be recommended! (For once this may be something available only to
_non-US_ citizens - you may not be allowed to import this to USA ;-)
Anonymous ftp to ftp.darmstadt.gmd.de, directory pub/secude

I still don't have any estimate on the effort needed for a MOSS
implementation, but I probably have time to wait until the end
of the year.
