The MOSS specification will soon be a standard, but has been constructed to 
allow non-interworking interpretations of the key management architecture.

More work is required to create viable e-mail security solutions.  It would be 
nice if this work was in the IETF ...

I have heard rumors that RSA is set to push an email privacy protocol
called S/MIME, based on PKCS.  Is this somehow
complementary/interoperable with MOSS, or is this yet another protocol
that we PEM developers are going to have to deal with?  If it is
different, why would RSA not want to work within the IETF framework?
